For the past four years, we’ve been growing a small trial block of around 100 vines at our home in Merimbula.
It started as a way of learning more about growing grapes in this part of the world. There’s a fairly common view that the Sapphire Coast is too humid or too wet for serious viticulture, but our experience with our little block has made us curious to explore that assumption further. The vines have grown well, with very little disease pressure and no spraying whatsoever, organic or otherwise. Most importantly, the resulting fruit has been stellar.

We’re looking for around 0.5–2 hectares of cleared land within the Bega Valley / Sapphire Coast, ideally within about 45 minutes of Merimbula.
We’re particularly interested in elevated, well-drained land, and it certainly doesn’t need to be the most productive paddock on the farm – rocky/gravelly slopes are particularly suitable.
We’re open to different arrangements – leasing land, purchasing a small parcel, or working with a landholder who likes the idea of having a vineyard established on part of their property.
At this stage we’re simply hoping to hear from people who might have a suitable piece of land, or know somebody who does. It doesn’t need to be land that is currently for sale.
